Manchester United have seen off West Ham United 1-0 in their FA Cup third-round replay at Old Trafford.
Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game to put the Red Devils through to a fourth-round encounter at home against Fulham.
It took the hosts just nine minutes to make the breakthrough as Anderson's incisive pass found Javier Hernandez, who squared for Rooney to tap in.
United could have doubled their lead before the end of the first half, but Dan Potts was on the line to hack away Nani's effort.
Hernandez should have done better when he flashed his shot over the bar at the start of the second period, before West Ham posed their first real threat on goal.
Matt Taylor found himself in plenty of space inside the box, only for his poor cutback to evade the waiting Carlton Cole.
The hosts could have had the game wrapped up with 10 minutes left on the clock as they were awarded a penalty following Jordan Spence's handball from a Ryan Giggs cross.
However, Rooney could only blast his penalty high over the crossbar to give West Ham a reprieve.
It mattered little, though, as United held on to progress.
