Bruno Fernandes's record vs. Leeds United

Bruno Fernandes is expected to be in the Manchester United starting XI on Sunday afternoon when the Red Devils continue their Premier League campaign away to Leeds United.

Ralf Rangnick's side beat Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 at Old Trafford on Tuesday to return to fourth spot in the table, with Fernandes on the scoresheet alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 27-year-old has again posted strong numbers for Man United this season, scoring eight goals and registering 12 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

Since arriving in England from Sporting Lisbon, Fernandes has netted 34 times and registered 23 assists in 75 Premier League appearances, while he has enjoyed himself against Leeds of late.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Fernandes has performed against the Whites in the past.

Fernandes has faced Leeds on three occasions in the Premier League, helping Man United record two victories, while the points were shared in a goalless draw at Elland Road last season.

The Portugal international's first ever outing against the Whites came in December 2020, when he scored twice and recorded one assist in a 6-2 victory over Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Fernandes could not inspire the Red Devils to a victory at Elland Road last term, with the points being shared in a 0-0 draw, but the attacker was back among the goals at Old Trafford earlier this season.

Indeed, the former Novara youngster hit a hat-trick in the 5-1 win over the Whites on the opening weekend of the 2021-22 campaign, while Mason Greenwood and Fred were also on the scoresheet.

A record of five goals and one assist in three appearances against Leeds means that Fernandes should enter Sunday's match full of confidence, as he looks to score in back-to-back league fixtures.

There has been criticism of the Portuguese's form this season, but he has managed 20 goal contributions during the 2021-22 campaign and has been impressive in the team's recent unbeaten run.

Alongside Aston Villa, Leeds are already the English club that Fernandes has scored the most goals against, and he recently revealed that he is relishing the chance to face the Whites at a full Elland Road.

"Yes, already last season, without fans, people were telling me about that," Fernandes told Man United's official website. "My teammates were saying that this is a tough place to be as a Manchester United player but I like that kind of atmosphere.

"I like when everything is against you because it makes you give a little bit more and be a little bit better. You also know the fans will be there for you, to make them be proud of you and give something back to them because they will go there to support us, for sure."
