Sports Mole picks out three talking points from Manchester United's US tour squad.

Manchester United travelled to Los Angeles on Wednesday for their US Tour, with the Red Devils preparing to tackle Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool in the United States.

Erik ten Hag's side will first be in action against Arsenal on Saturday evening, before taking on Real Betis and Liverpool on July 31 and August 3 respectively.

Man United will then face Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 10, with their 2024-25 Premier League opener coming six days later against Fulham.

Here, Sports Mole picks out three main talking points from the club's US Tour squad, as head coach Ten Hag shapes his team for the new season.

Yoro will be aiming to cement a spot in the first XI

There will be tougher tests, but Leny Yoro had an incredibly encouraging debut against Rangers last weekend, with the 18-year-old excellent in his opening 45 minutes of action.

Yoro was a vital player for Lille last season, and there is a strong chance that he will be in the starting side when Man United open their Premier League campaign against Fulham.

Joshua Zirkzee is not with the squad, as he is on an extended break following his involvement in Euro 2024, so Yoro is the only new signing currently with the team in the United States.

Yoro is again set to start against Arsenal, and his performance versus the Gunners will give a good indication of whether he is ready to be an automatic pick in the middle of the defence.

Youngsters will be looking to impress

Radek Vitek was outstanding in Man United's opening pre-season match of the summer against Rosenborg, and there will be chances for the youngsters to impress in the United States.

Harry Amass, Rhys Bennett, Will Fish, Sam Murray, Toby Collyer, Jack Fletcher, Sam Mather, Maxi Oyedele, James Scanlon and Ethan Wheatley will all be looking to catch the eye of Ten Hag.

Amass, Collyer and Wheatley could potentially earn full promotions to the first team for the new campaign, but all of the youngsters on the tour will be looking to follow Kobbie Mainoo's lead.

Some of the players mentioned will leave on loan before the end of the transfer window, but there will also be those kept at the club with a view to being involved in what will be a busy 2024-25 campaign.

Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Eriksen, Sancho included amid exit talk

Man United are looking to sign at least two more players this summer, with a central midfielder and another centre-back wanted by the club, while a right-back or a left-back could also arrive.

However, the club are under pressure to make some sales, and some of the first-team players in the US Tour squad will be on their way out before the transfer window closes.

Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka could be two defensive departures, while Christian Eriksen is also being heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho has patched-up his relationship with Ten Hag, but it is far from certain that the attacker will remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline, with Paris Saint-Germain thought to be keen.

As a result, it will be fascinating to see how much Ten Hag uses the players who are widely expected to leave the club over the next few weeks. body check tags ::
