A frustrating half for Manchester United's interim manager Ryan Giggs ended well thanks to Wayne Rooney's penalty which sees the Red Devils lead Norwich City 1-0 in the Premier League.
Early on it was United on the front foot, but they couldn't really create an opening as Norwich actually found the net.
Unfortunately for the Canaries, Jonny Howson's close-range finish was ruled out as Ricky van Wolfswinkel had pushed Phil Jones at the back post to head across to his teammate.
United's first effort on goal came in the 13th minute when Danny Welbeck collected the ball at the back post and lashed a shot to the near post, where his England teammate John Ruddy palmed it away.
It took until the 39th minute for their next good effort when Antonio Valencia's low shot was saved by Ruddy.
A minute later United had their chance to go in front when a cross escaped three Norwich defenders to reach Welbeck at the back post and he was tripped up by Steven Whittaker.
Rooney stepped up and sent Ruddy the wrong way.
