The full-back has been sidelined with a thigh problem since August, with the initial prognosis stating that he would miss a month of action. Solskjaer more recently claimed that he expected to see Shaw back prior to the October international break, meaning that the 24-year-old has an outside chance of travelling with the squad this week.
Anthony Martial

Another player sidelined since August, United have badly missed the Frenchman's potency inside the box but will have to wait a little longer before seeing him again, with Solskjaer confirming on Tuesday that the earliest Martial could return would be over the weekend against Newcastle United.
Eric Bailly

Bailly picked up a knee ligament injury over pre-season and it remains unknown as to when exactly he will be back in training. Some reports have tipped him for a return in November, while others claim that he is not expected to recover fully until the new year.
Paul Pogba

Pogba featured against Arsenal, playing the full 90 minutes, but is said to have felt further aggravation to an ankle problem which has impeded the Frenchman since prior to the September international break, making it very likely that he will be rested on Thursday.
Diogo Dalot

Dalot missed out on the draw with Arsenal due to a lack of fitness following another injury setback, but Solskjaer did indicate prior to the game that he expected to have the youngster back in his squad for the trip to face AZ.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka

The full-back, one of United's more impressive players this season, was ruled out of the Arsenal game at the 11th hour due to a bout of tonsilitis. He ought to return in time for Thursday but you suspect that Solskjaer will keep him in reserve ahead of the weekend.

It is unclear as to exactly why Jones, one of the more injury-prone players of the modern era, has been absent since the game against Astana a fortnight ago, but he is not expected to return until later this month.

The defender has been out for some time due to a knee ligament injury sustained whilst on loan at Fulham last season, and there remains no timescale for when he might return.
