Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Leeds United.
Sports Mole

Manchester United's Premier League campaign kicks off on Saturday lunchtime, as old rivals Leeds United pay a visit to Old Trafford in gameweek one.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side - with Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane in tow - will be eyeing a sustained Premier League title challenge after finishing the 2020-21 season 12 points behind champions Manchester City.

With fans returning to the Theatre of Dreams, Man United would do well to replicate last season's home performance against the Whites, which saw Solskjaer's men run out 6-2 winners.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Marcus Rashford

Status: Out
Type of injury: Shoulder
Possible return date: Unknown

Marcus Rashford played through the pain of a shoulder problem for Man United and England over the past few months, but the striker has now undergone surgery on the issue and will spend a good chunk of time recovering.

Edinson Cavani

Status: Out
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: Unknown

Edinson Cavani - who extended his Old Trafford stay until 2022 over the summer - has been granted more time off following the Copa America in order to spend time with his family and will not be available against the Whites.

Alex Telles

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: September 11 (vs. Newcastle)

Alex Telles sustained an ankle injury during pre-season training last month, and Solskjaer does not expect the left-back to return to the fold before the end of August.

Dean Henderson

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: August 14 (vs. Leeds)

Dean Henderson has been suffering from the after effects of a bout of coronavirus and was forced to miss United's training camp in Scotland. Solskjaer has affirmed that the shot-stopper will be closely monitored ahead of the start of the new season.

Jesse Lingard

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Jesse Lingard was due to take part in United's friendly against Everton but returned a positive coronavirus test before the match, and self-isolation guidelines mean that he will not be available for the weekend.

Phil Jones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Phil Jones has been stepping up his recovery from a serious knee injury and has returned to Red Devils training, but the Leeds game will surely come too soon for him.

Eric Bailly

Status: Out
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: Unknown

Eric Bailly was selected to represent Ivory Coast at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and Solskjaer is unsure when the defender will be out of his mandatory quarantine, ruling him out of this game.

Amad Diallo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: Unknown

As is the case with Bailly, Amad Diallo also turned out for the Ivory Coast during the games in Japan and will not be available here, although he is being tipped to leave the club on loan anyway.

MAN UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man United have no players suspended for the opening weekend.
