Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has revealed that he will be missing for "a few weeks" with the injury problem that he suffered during Sunday's Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

Maguire pulled up just before half-time of the clash with Villa, and he was subsequently replaced by Matthijs de Ligt.

The centre-back was not named in the England squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Greece and Finland, with interim head coach Lee Carsley looking at other options.

However, he will now be on the sidelines "for a few weeks" with the muscular problem that he suffered in what proved to be a goalless draw with Unai Emery's side at Villa Park.

"Frustrated to pick up an injury at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sideline for me but I'll come back stronger," Maguire posted on his official Instagram account.

Maguire suffered a muscular injury against Aston Villa

Maguire has made nine appearances for Man United this season, scoring once, with his goal coming against Porto in the Europa League last week, as the Red Devils secured a late point.

The defender put in an impressive first-half performance against Villa, having been brought back into the side, but he is now likely to be on the sidelines until some stage in November.

Maguire's future remains the subject of much speculation, as his contract is due to expire in June 2025, but the club have the option to extend his deal for another 12 months.

Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia, Luka Shaw and Mason Mount are also currently sidelined for the Red Devils, who will be back in Premier League action at home to Brentford after the international break.

Three Man United players withdraw from international squads

Man United have also revealed that Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Noussair Mazraoui have pulled out of their national team squads for the October internationals.

"I won't be able to be with the national team but I hope to recover so I can be on the next date," Garnacho wrote on Instagram, with the forward managing a recent issue.

Mainoo, meanwhile, suffered a muscular injury in the recent clash with Tottenham Hotspur, and the midfielder will now spend the international break recovering rather than featuring for England.

Mazraoui, like Maguire, was replaced at the interval of the game against Villa with an unspecified issue, and the Morocco international will not represent his country during the international break.

Shaw, Mount, Garnacho, Mazraoui and Mainoo could all return against Brentford, but it remains to be seen whether Erik ten Hag will still be in charge of Man United heading into that clash.
