Anthony Martial and Diogo Dalot are reportedly set to miss Manchester United's meeting with Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday due to injury.

Martial, who has sought to reignite his Red Devils career under Erik ten Hag, only lasted 45 minutes in last weekend's Manchester derby with Manchester City due to an unspecified issue.

The French attacker subsequently missed Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace, where Dalot was absent once again due to a thigh complaint.

The Portugal international sustained the issue during Man United's 3-0 EFL Cup win over Charlton Athletic, leaving Aaron Wan-Bissaka to bomb down the right in his absence.

Speaking to reporters in his pre-game press conference, Ten Hag refused to rule either man out of the trip to North London, saying: "No, sorry. It's Wednesday. We'll have to see how far they are, if they are fit for the game on Sunday."

However, the Manchester Evening News states that neither man was seen with the travelling squad on Saturday, and as a result the pair are expected to miss Sunday's crunch battle.

With Martial sidelined, Burnley loanee Wout Weghorst is set to make his second successive start for the Red Devils, allowing Marcus Rashford and Antony to occupy the wide roles.

Meanwhile, Dalot's absence opens the door for Wan-Bissaka to impress at the Emirates, with the right-back earning praise for his showings over the past few weeks.

Ten Hag will therefore be working without a total of six players for Sunday's game, as key midfielder Casemiro will serve a suspension for an accumulation of yellow cards.

Donny van de Beek is also sidelined for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury, while defender Axel Tuanzebe remains in the infirmary with his long-term issue.

Meanwhile, Jadon Sancho has returned to training at Carrington after working on an individual programme, having not featured since a 1-1 draw with Chelsea on October 22.

However, the 22-year-old was not part of the travelling squad for Sunday's game either, and Ten Hag affirmed that he is not prepared to take any risks over the England attacker.

"He's making the next step. Yesterday for the first time he was in team training. Team training is the final training before a game, so we will extend that in the coming days, [the] coming week, and then go step-by-step," Ten Hag said.

As for Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus (knee) and Reiss Nelson (thigh) are set to miss out, while Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares are both nursing knocks but would not have started anyway.

Man United find themselves eight points behind the league leaders in the Premier League table and have dropped down to fourth place following Newcastle United's goalless draw with Crystal Palace. body check tags ::
