Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has claimed that a run in the League Cup would do the team good.
The Red Devils, who lost to MK Dons in the second round last season, start in the competition in the third round this term against Championship side Ipswich Town this evening.
Herrera has suggested that United boss Louis van Gaal and his side should be taking the tournament seriously.
"I told you at the beginning of the season, we have to fight for everything," the Spaniard told United's official website. "We have to try to get trophies this season.
"The Capital One Cup is a competition we can win and, if we are playing two or three times every week, it's very good for everyone. Everyone is involved, everyone has chances to play and everyone is fit. I can only see good things from this kind of competition."
United last lifted the League Cup in 2010.
