Manchester United's 7-0 victory over Barnsley in the EFL Cup proved to be their biggest win since Erik ten Hag took charge of the club in the summer of 2022.
The Red Devils entered the third-round fixture off the back of a 3-0 success over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday, and it proved to be another positive 90 minutes for the club on Tuesday evening.
Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Christian Eriksen all scored braces for the 20-time English champions, while Antony also registered from the penalty spot.
Ten Hag's previous biggest victories as Man United head coach were 4-1 wins over Real Betis and Chelsea, but the Dutchman enjoyed his best-ever success as Red Devils manager on Tuesday.
The win was also Man United's biggest in the League Cup, and it was a dominant performance from the hosts against their League One opponents in the third round of the competition.
Ten Hag enjoys biggest victory as Man United boss
Man United suffered back-to-back defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool in the Premier League on August 24 and September 1, but they beat Southampton by three goals in the league last weekend before comfortably securing their spot in the next stage of the EFL Cup.
A busy end to the month will see the Red Devils play three more times, facing Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur in the league either side of a home fixture against FC Twente in the Europa League.
The 20-time English champions will when head to Porto in the Europa League on October 3 before visiting Aston Villa in the league ahead of the international break.
"First of all, it was a difficult start but, once we found the shape, it's not so weird because it's the first time this team is playing together," Ten Hag told reporters during his post-match press conference.
"But once we found the shape and the patterns, we scored some great goals, starting with [Marcus] Rashford which was a brilliant goal but I'd also say some other goals were really good. We played with a lot of speed and we were very ruthless in front of the goal.
Ten Hag reacts to Ugarte's first Man United start
"The key was finding the shape and, of course, the right attitude. We were 100 per cent concentrated and we certainly played very good. I think it was enjoyable to watch and also the fans they liked it and appreciated it. You could feel again the good bond between the team and the fans and we gave the fans some nice goals."
Ten Hag also praised Manuel Ugarte for his performance on his full debut for the club, with the Uruguay international playing 62 minutes of the contest against Barnsley, having made his first appearance off the bench against Southampton last weekend.
"I think he was good. Also for him, in the first minutes, you have to find your position and, as a team, you have to find the right shape. Once we got it, then you see his level and he can really strengthen the squad and the team," added the manager.
Ugarte will be hoping to keep his spot in the XI when Man United head to Palace in the league on Saturday, while the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Joshua Zirkzee, Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, Amad Diallo, Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo are all set to be back in the side.
