Manchester United's Scott McTominay, Luke Shaw doubtful for Everton clash

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits that Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are doubtful for Wednesday's EFL Cup tie with Everton.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Luke Shaw and Scott McTominay are both doubts for Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter-final clash with Everton.

The two players both started in the Red Devils' 6-2 thrashing of Leeds United on Sunday afternoon, with McTominay breaking a Premier League goalscoring record in that emphatic win.

However, the two players did not come out of that victory unscathed, and Solskjaer has admitted that United will be sweating over the fitnesses of Shaw and McTominay for their midweek trip to Goodison Park.

When asked by reporters if the duo are doubtful for Wednesday, Solskjaer said: "Yeah, I would think so. Luke has been ill for a few days and was only passed fit this morning. He didn't train yesterday.

"Scott, it seemed like a groin issue. I don't know. Hopefully, it won't be too long as he's not had any muscle injuries before. But I don't know how quickly he will recover."

United's drubbing of the Whites moved them up to third in the Premier League table, with Solskjaer's men level on points with Everton before they lock horns in the EFL Cup.
