How Manchester United could line up against Everton

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Wednesday night's EFL Cup quarter-final against Everton at Goodison Park.

Fresh off the back of their 6-2 drubbing of rivals Leeds United on Sunday, Manchester United have the chance to reach the semi-finals of the EFL Cup when they take on Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday.

The Red Devils are in fine domestic form, having won six and lost none of their last seven Premier League outings to climb up to third in the table.

However, they are taking on an Everton side that has also rediscovered their best form recently, winning three in a row to stay level on points with Wednesday's visitors.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could set his side out for the EFL Cup quarter-final.

Out: Marcos Rojo (calf), Phil Jones (knee), Scott McTominay (groin), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (knock)
Doubtful: Luke Shaw (fatigue)

As is often the case with EFL Cup matches, changes are expected from Solskjaer for this one - particularly as it comes in the midst of the already-busy Premier League fixture schedule.

However, Solskjaer must also balance those changes with the need to progress into the semi-finals of a major cup competition, and to ensure that he does not lose the momentum from Sunday's six-star showing against Leeds, when his attackers ran riot and could have scored double figures.

Bruno Fernandes scored twice and assisted another in the rout, but he may be the only attacker to keep his place, having proven himself almost undroppable when previously rested.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial could sit out from the start as the likes of Donny van de Beek, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata - the latter of whom starred in the previous round - come into the side.

Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Alex Telles and Eric Bailly are among the other players who missed out from the start at the weekend and will therefore be hopeful of benefitting from any rotation.

Dean Henderson has started in both previous rounds and so is expected to get the gloves again for this one as he looks to bounce back from his mistake against Sheffield United last week.

Scott McTominay limped off late on against Leeds - having earlier achieved the unprecedented feat of scoring twice in the opening three minutes - and will not feature here as a result, while Luke Shaw should be rested after needing to come off early on Sunday.

Solskjaer has also confirmed that Aaron Wan-Bissaka picked up a knock against Leeds and will not play in this match as a result.
