Manchester United manager David Moyes has hailed Ashley Young for his performance against Stoke City in the League Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday.
The England international scored the opening goal in the Red Devils' 2-0 victory at Britannia Stadium and was also fouled on a number of occasions that were ignored by referee Mark Clattenburg.
"I have spoken to Ashley," The Mirror quotes the Scot as saying. "I told him to make sure you do everything right and get on with it.
"He got kicked a few times and went down and got back up. He has also got the ability to score, he is good in training and he needed the goal as well.
"We have a lot of talent in wide areas to select from. You need to score and play well if you want regular outings. He has got to keep stepping up like he did, when you are in and you get an opportunity you have got to show."
United will take on Sunderland in the semi-finals of the competition in January.
