Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag is reportedly planning to use Amad Diallo heavily during pre-season, with the attacker set to be given the chance to secure a first-team role for next term.
The 20-year-old made the move to the Red Devils from Atalanta BC in January 2021, and he made eight appearances for the club in the second half of the 2020-21 campaign.
Amad has only featured on one occasion for the club since then, though, spending a period on loan at Rangers during the 2021-22 campaign before turning out for Sunderland last term.
The forward found it difficult to make his mark at Rangers in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign, but he starred at Sunderland last season, managing 14 goals and four assists in 42 appearances.
Amad is now preparing to return to Carrington training complex next week for the start of Man United's preparations for the 2023-24 campaign.
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Ivory Coast international will be given plenty of opportunities to make his mark during the upcoming friendlies.
The report claims that Anthony Elanga is expected to be sold this summer, while Facundo Pellistri could move on loan, opening up a spot in the squad for Amad.
Speaking in May, Ten Hag revealed that he views Amad as a part of the club's future, with the youngster making huge progress at Sunderland last season.
The attacker's move to Old Trafford came as somewhat of a surprise, as he had only featured on five occasions for Atalanta before an agreement was reached to bring him to Old Trafford.
Man United have a busy pre-season schedule, with their first friendly of the summer set to take place against Leeds United on July 12.
The 20-time English champions will also take on Lyon, Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Lens and Athletic Bilbao as part of their preparations for next season.
Man United's 2023-24 Premier League campaign will open at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 14, before visiting Tottenham Hotspur in their first away match of the season.
The Red Devils are close to completing their first signing of the summer, with Mason Mount preparing to undergo a medical ahead of a £60m move from Chelsea.
The club are also in talks with Inter Milan over a possible deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana, with David de Gea's contract at Old Trafford expiring on Saturday. body check tags ::
