Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has suggested that current boss Louis van Gaal has what it takes to bring silverware back to Old Trafford.
Ferguson lifted 38 trophies in his 27 years in charge of the Red Devils before retiring in 2013, with that year's Premier League title being the last major honour that the club has won to date.
Ferguson has admitted that he likes the way that Van Gaal has taken to the manager's role at United since being appointed in the summer of 2014.
"Louis has got a great background with Bayern Munich and Barcelona. He's got the pedigree there's no doubt about that," the 73-year-old told Sky Sports News.
"I love his press conferences. They are brilliant. I can see some of the press guys twitching in their seats as he answers some of the questions. He's got the confidence to deal with that. He's got the experience. He knows how to handle these things.
"It's going to take time because everyone is different. Taking over from myself it's going to take time to get his team on the pitch."
Van Gaal became United manager after Ferguson's successor, David Moyes, was sacked nine months into the job, with Ryan Giggs briefly taking charge.
