Sir Alex Ferguson has said that Manchester United struggled with bad luck in front of goal following their 1-1 draw with Newcastle this afternoon.
The Red Devils hit the target on 13 occasions – over twice as many times as their opponents – but found the back of the net only once in 90 minutes of play.
"In terms of creating chances, we were fantastic today," he told Sky Sports News. "If we play like that every week, I'll be absolutely delighted.
"Normally you expect to take three or four of the chances we had. There was a bit of bad luck in terms of shots were blocked on the line and the goalkeeper had two or three fantastic saves, and we missed two or three glaring chances.
"It was a mixture of the types of chances we were getting today."
Manchester United are now 14 points behind league leaders Manchester City.
