Zlatan Ibrahimovic claims that he had no intention of catching Seamus Coleman's head with his foot, saying that he could easily 'put an opponent to sleep' should he wish.

Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has insisted that he did not kick Everton defender Seamus Coleman in the head on purpose during Sunday's 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.

The 35-year-old appeared to leave his boot in after getting in a tangle with his opponent - an incident that went unpunished at the time as referee Michael Oliver did not see it.

Ibrahimovic did not take kindly to suggestions that he deliberately set out to hurt Coleman, who was replaced soon after due to the force of the landing, saying that he could 'put an opponent' to sleep should he wish.

"It was a physical game. They played hard," he told MUTV. "I heard one of the commentators say I kicked someone in the head on purpose, but it was a 50-50 duel and he pulled me down.

"Trust me, if I want to kick someone in the head, I know how to kick someone in the head and make him fall asleep. That is the only thing I have to say."

Ibrahimovic opened the scoring for United on Merseyside, taking his tally for the season in all competitions to 11 goals in 20 appearances.
