Leeds United will issue lifetime bans to supporters who are found to have thrown objects at Manchester United players last weekend.

Anthony Elanga, who scored the final goal for the visitors in their 4-2 win at Elland Road, was struck by a missile, believed to be a coin, when celebrating their third goal scored by Fred in the 67th minute.

A total of nine arrests were made by police before and during the match, two of which were for flares being thrown and one for a pitch invasion.

Leeds' Premier League contest with Man United witnessed the largest security operation in Premier League history, with around 900 police officers on duty in West Yorkshire.

A Leeds spokesperson, via The Sun, said: "Leeds United are reviewing CCTV footage and we will do everything possible to find those supporters who are throwing objects onto the field of play.

"Any supporter caught throwing objects onto the pitch will be issued a lifetime ban from attending our fixtures."

Along with Leeds, the Football Association are also believed to be investigating the incident. body check tags ::
