Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that he has no idea where Angel di Maria is, despite the winger being instructed to join up with the team in the United States last weekend.
The winger is believed to be on the verge of leaving the Red Devils for Paris Saint-Germain just one season after his British-record £59.7m move to Old Trafford.
Di Maria was expected to rejoin his teammates last weekend, but he missed his flight and has not taken part in any of the club's pre-season tour.
When asked by reporters where Di Maria is, Van Gaal said: "Maybe you know? I don't know that."
PSG manager Laurent Blanc revealed overnight that a deal to sign the Argentine was "close" to completion, but when Van Gaal was asked about the comments, the Dutchman said: "I don't know because I'm not the same manager as Laurent Blanc. I don't want to answer these questions.
"With Manchester United we shall announce something when it is already done and not when it isn't done, because it's a process. I have said that many times. We will have to wait and see and I don't want to interfere [in the situation]."
PSG are reported to have bid £28.5m for Di Maria.
