Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could reportedly earn a call-up into the England squad for next month's international friendlies with Brazil and Belgium.
The 18-year-old has made the breakthrough into the Man United first team this season, making 12 appearances in all competitions, including eight outings in the Premier League.
Mainoo scored his first senior goal against Newport County in the FA Cup before registering for the first time in the Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday, scoring a last-gasp winner for Erik ten Hag's side in their 4-3 success at Molineux.
The teenager, who has been with the Red Devils since the age of nine, is allegedly in line for a lucrative new contract at Old Trafford due to his development.
According to HITC, England boss Gareth Southgate has been monitoring Mainoo's performances and is considering handing him a call-up into the squad for the March friendlies with Brazil and Belgium.
Mainoo has represented England Under-17s, England Under-18s and England Under-19s, but he also qualifies for Ghana.
Randy Abbey, who is a member of the executive council of the Ghana FA, has told The Times that the African nation are keen to secure the Man United youngster.
"The Ghana Football Association is interested in monitoring, attracting, and persuading all eligible talents for its various national teams," said Abbey.
"Kobbie is definitely one of these incredible talents, and the association would love to work with him and many like him at home and abroad."
"I've still not come down from it, I still feel like I'm dreaming to be honest," Mainoo told TNT Sports after scoring the late winner against Wolves. "It's such a tough place to come, they've had a good home run here, so we had to get the win.
"To start playing in the Premier League for my boyhood club has been amazing. Now [I am] just trying to get a good run of games in, win more games and get real momentum going."
Mainoo is expected to keep hold of his starting role for Man United's next match, which comes at home to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.
HITC claim that England's monitoring of Mainoo is not down to interest from Ghana but due to his impressive performances in the first team at Old Trafford this season. body check tags ::
