The International Champions Cup match between rivals Manchester United and Manchester City in Beijing has been called off due to the poor state of the pitch at the Bird's Nest Stadium.
The pre-season friendly, which would have pitted Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola against each other for the first time since the pair were appointed at their respective clubs, had been a doubt for some time due to recent thunderstorms.
Four hours before the match was due to kick off, it was officially scrapped due to the surface being unplayable.
A statement on United's official website read: "Due to recent weather events, tournament organisers and participating clubs have made the decision to cancel the International Champions Cup fixture to be played in Beijing tonight, July 25."
The first time that United and City will go head to head competitively this season will be on September 10 at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
