Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has admitted that Louis van Gaal was "scary" when he first met the Dutchman, but now claims that he is a "great guy".
The 64-year-old, who is known for his strict coaching methods, has not selected Rojo at all this season after the Argentine failed to show up for United's pre-season tour in the USA following the Copa America.
Despite reports that Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick recently confronted Van Gaal over his methods, Rojo has praised the manager's approach.
"He has a really strong personality, but he is a great person," Rojo told Fox Sports Argentina. "He has a bulldog face, but he is great guy.
"He's scary at first, but when you get to know him and relate to him on daily basis, you get along, but only if you listen to him. He listens to us, and even speaks a little bit of Spanish, so he always takes me to his office for a pep talk."
United are currently fifth in the Premier League table after two victories, one draw and one defeat.
