Former Manchester United winger Lee Sharpe has claimed that a lack of Champions League football can help the team this season.
United failed to qualify for any European football last year after slumping to a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League table.
However, Sharpe believes that fewer midweek games will only benefit the squad as the 2014-15 campaign progresses.
"Being out of Europe and not having hangovers when you can struggle the weekend after having European away games – they certainly don't have that problem," he told Sky Sports News.
"So they can keep themselves fit and be properly rested. That'll be an advantage not having those midweek games."
United continue their pre-season campaign tonight [Saturday] when they play Roma in Denver.
