Tahith Chong has revealed that he has opted to join Manchester United over remaining in place at Feyenoord purely for the "sporting adventure".
The 16-year-old, who has yet to officially sign a contract at Old Trafford, is expected to make a switch next week and link up with the club's famed academy.
Chong has admitted that departing De Kuip is not a decision that he has taken lightly, and has denied suggestions that he has selected the Theatre of Dreams as his next destination for the sums of money potentially on offer.
"Unfortunately, I have not come out with Feyenoord when we were talking about a contract," the Daily Star quotes him as saying. "I would have liked to stay longer at Feyenoord because it's my club.
"The discussions were very vague and I had expected more of it. Only after that conversation, I went to talk to Manchester United and I chose this.
"Many people call it I do it for the money, but I'm not a money grabber. I choose the sporting adventure and for me it is now time to look forward."
Chong has been a part of Feyenoord's academy since the age of 10.
