Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Casemiro is in line to make his debut for the club in Saturday's Premier League clash with Southampton.

Last Friday, the 20-time English champions revealed that they had come to an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of the Brazil international.

Man United then confirmed the move on Monday evening, with the midfielder presented to the club's supporters ahead of the 2-1 win over Liverpool.

The 30-year-old has been training alongside his new teammates this week, and Ten Hag said during Friday's pre-match press conference that the club's latest arrival was available to make his debut on Saturday.

"Casemiro is fit. He did all of the training sessions. He trained first individually and, the last days, he trained with the team," Ten Hag told reporters.

Anthony Martial will not be available against the Saints, though, with the France international set to miss out due to an Achilles problem.

"Anthony Martial is not fit. He came out with a problem on his Achilles, [coming] out of the game, so we have to wait. I cannot tell a prognosis on how long it takes but we hope he will be available for the next game [Leicester]," Ten Hag added.

Casemiro will wear the number 18 shirt for his new club, and the Brazilian said during a recent interview with journalist Andy Mitten that he was excited to test himself in the Premier League.

"The Premier League is a dream to play in. It's a wonderful league. The respect that fans have for players, the players have for fans, the players with the referees, the referees with the players, the passion of the clubs... when go from the airport to the city, you feel that the city has football in the air and I think that stadium also speaks for itself. The ground breathes football and I'm delighted to be here," he said.

"It's a footballing country, more than a city I feel it's a footballing nation and what I like most about England is the respect the fans have with the players and that's the most important thing."

Ten Hag recently said that Casemiro's vast experience of winning throughout his career would be a huge help to the Red Devils moving forward.

"He has won so many trophies in his career," Ten Hag said to reporters after the team's first win of the campaign against Liverpool. "He knows the road: how you win games and finally how you win trophies.

"We [now] have more players who have won already many trophies in their career. That has to be a guidance for the rest of the team so they know and they understand how to win games.

"We did really well today compared to last week so we make a step [forward], but it is what you have to deliver every day and in every game."

The midfielder joined Real Madrid from Sao Paulo in 2013 and has left the club having made 336 appearances in all competitions, contributing 31 goals and 29 assists in the process. body check tags ::
