Former Aston Villa winger Ashley Young has said that he knew Manchester United was "the right club" after he first learned of their interest.
The 26-year-old, who signed at Old Trafford earlier this summer, was first linked with Sir Alex Ferguson's side during the winter transfer window, at which point the England international was also being linked with Liverpool.
"At the time we were in a bit of a sticky situation at Villa and in a battle to stay up, so the clubs said they’d talk again in the summer and see where things were at," Young told Inside United.
"There were other clubs interested but as soon as I heard about the interest from United I just wanted to get here and sign. I knew it was the right club."
Young joined Aston Villa from Watford in 2007, scoring 30 goals in four and a half seasons at the club.
