How Manchester United could line up against Brighton & Hove Albion

Sports Mole looks at how Manchester United could line up for Wednesday night's EFL Cup fourth round clash with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

Manchester United travel to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton & Hove Albion for the second time in five days on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils won the first game of the quickfire double-header in extraordinary fashion on Saturday when Bruno Fernandes's 100th-minute penalty sealed victory after the final whistle had already been blown once.

United rode their luck on that occasion, though, with Brighton hitting the woodwork five times before their 95th-minute equaliser which was eventually cancelled out in controversial and dramatic style.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could line his side up for the contest.

The Manchester United XI which takes to the field on Wednesday is likely to be significantly different to the one which ran out at the Amex Stadium on Saturday due to the differing priority level between the competitions and the busy fixture schedule this season.

United's solitary summer signing Donny van de Beek could be one of the players to come back into the side after once again being forced to wait for his full Premier League debut at the weekend.

The Dutchman started against Luton Town last week and is expected to feature in the number 10 role again on Wednesday as Solskjaer rests Fernandes.

Dean Henderson is also likely to come into the XI again after keeping a clean sheet against Luton, and he will be keen to fire another reminder to Solskjaer having seen David de Gea ship five goals in two games so far this season.

Other fringe players including Odion Ighalo, Jesse Lingard, Eric Bailly and Daniel James will also be hopeful of a start as Solskjaer tries to keep his squad fresh.

United's only confirmed absentees are defensive duo Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones, both of whom remain sidelined through injury.
