Manchester United set a new Premier League record by becoming the first team to win four successive matches by three or more goals in the competition's history courtesy of their 3-0 triumph over Aston Villa to complete gameweek 34 of the 2019-20 season.

The in-form Red Devils maintained their charge towards the top four but remain in fifth courtesy of Chelsea's narrow win at Crystal Palace and Leicester City's draw at Arsenal.

Manchester City produced arguably the standout team performance of the week with a 5-0 thrashing of Newcastle United, although they are still 23 points adrift of champions Liverpool, who beat Brighton & Hove Albion 3-1 at the Amex.

A late Sheffield United win over Wolverhampton Wanderers saw the battle for Europe take another twist, with Burnley right in the mix following their win over West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur losing ground, having been held by Bournemouth.

Watford were the only relegation-threatened team to pick up a victory, beating doomed Norwich City to give themselves some breathing space above the bottom three.

No goalkeeper in the Premier League has kept more clean sheets this season than Burnley's Nick Pope, and he was an easy choice for the gloves this week. The England international was made to work hard for clean sheet number 14 of the season, but pulled off some crucial saves to deny West Ham.

For the second gameweek in a row, John Egan earns a place in the team courtesy of his exploits at both ends of the field, helping Sheffield United to keep Wolves at bay before popping up with a 93rd-minute winner for the Blades.

Craig Dawson was also on the scoresheet for Watford to make it a goalscoring duo at the heart of our defence this week, although Nicolas Otamendi and Nathan Ake both deserve honourable mentions.

While the centre-backs were goalscorers, the full-backs were providers; Lucas Digne produced an exquisite pass for Everton's goal against Southampton, while Tariq Lamptey impressed once again despite his Brighton side being on the end of a defeat to Liverpool, assisting the Seagulls' goal against the champions.

It is a star-studded front six, with Man United once again well represented. Paul Pogba makes the cut in midfield after opening his account for the season with a measured finish from Bruno Fernandes's corner - another assist for the Portuguese playmaker to add to the penalty which opened the scoring.

Fernandes has now been directly involved in 13 goals from his first 10 Premier League games - the joint-most for any player after 10 games in the competition's history - and his transformative impact on the team and those around him has been remarkable.

The first name on this week's team sheet came from the other half of Manchester, though, with David Silva showing that he is still among the best players in the division despite his imminent departure.

Man City fans will not be the only ones who miss the Spaniard when he is gone, and his performance against Newcastle - complete with a fine goal, two assists and 106 passes completed from 112 - was one of the best individual displays in the Premier League all season.

The former champions can feel hard done by to only have one representative in this team - Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez in particular deserve a mention - but there was stiff competition for forward places this week.

Chelsea duo Willian and Christian Pulisic get the nod in the wide areas, with Willian providing two assists to continue his fine form since the restart and Pulisic grabbing another goal.

Danny Welbeck, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, Danny Ings and Christian Benteke were all in contention for the forward spot, but it was impossible to leave out Mohamed Salah following his two-goal haul against Brighton, adding an assist as well to take him up to 100 goal involvements in 104 Premier League games for Liverpool.
