Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester United

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Manchester United.
Sports Mole

Liverpool will aim to keep their fleeting hopes of a top-four Premier League finish alive when they travel to Old Trafford for Sunday's battle with old foes Manchester United.

Jurgen Klopp's team were seconds away from claiming a 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday, but the wasteful Reds were made to pay for their missed chances as Joe Willock levelled deep into added time.

The reigning champions have now fallen four points behind Chelsea in the race for Europe, and with only five games of the season remaining, Klopp will need everyone firing on all cylinders at Old Trafford.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Jordan Henderson

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: May 15 (vs. Burnley)

Captain Jordan Henderson continues to recuperate from a serious groin problem, and while Klopp is unsure when the England international could be back, there is hope that he could play again before the campaign concludes.

Nat Phillips

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: May 2 (vs. Man United)

Nat Phillips has now missed Liverpool's last two games with a hamstring problem, but the Reds will hope to recover the centre-back in time for the trip to Old Trafford.

Joel Matip

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Joel Matip is one of three Liverpool defenders seemingly out for the season after he sustained a serious ankle injury a couple of months ago.

Joe Gomez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Klopp has issued a positive update on Joe Gomez's recovery from a serious knee problem, but the centre-back will not recover in time to play again this term.

Virgil van Dijk

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Virgil van Dijk has been keeping fans posted with updates from his recovery, but the ACL injury that he sustained in October's Merseyside derby is likely to keep him out until next season.

Caoimhin Kelleher

Status: Out
Type of injury: Abdominal
Possible return date: Unknown

Backup goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has been nursing an abdominal problem for the past few weeks, and it is currently unclear when the shot-stopper will be fit enough to return.

Divock Origi

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: May 2 (vs. Man United)

Cult hero Divock Origi has been struggling with a muscular problem for several weeks and may not be ready to face Man United, but he is expected to leave in the summer anyway.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no players suspended for this match.
