Chelsea will be bidding to end their worst-ever league run against Manchester United when the Blues welcome the Red Devils to Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.
The hosts will enter the contest off the back of a 2-2 draw with Burnley on Saturday afternoon, with the Clarets, who were reduced to 10 men late in the first half, twice fighting back to claim a point.
Man United, meanwhile, were also held on Saturday, with Erik ten Hag's side drawing 1-1 against Brentford in West London, and they will be in the capital again on Thursday to tackle Chelsea.
The Red Devils remain in the argument for a top-five position, sitting sixth in the Premier League table, nine points behind fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, and 11 from fourth-placed Aston Villa, with both teams having played a game more.
Chelsea, though, are down in 12th, eight points behind their opponents in this match, albeit having played a game less, and some 17 off fifth-placed Tottenham.
Chelsea on worst-ever league run against Man United
The Blues are winless in their last 12 Premier League games against Man United, which is their worst-ever league run against the Manchester giants.
Indeed, not since November 2017 have Chelsea overcome the Red Devils in England's top flight, with Alvaro Morata netting the only goal of the match in a 1-0 success at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have beaten Man United twice since then, but both of those successes came in the FA Cup, including a 3-1 victory in the semi-finals of the competition in July 2020.
Man United have already beaten the Blues once in the league this season, running out 2-1 winners at Old Trafford in December, with Scott McTominay scoring a brace for the hosts.
Five of their last seven league meetings have finished level
Ten Hag's side were also victorious over Chelsea in Manchester last season, recording a 4-1 win, but five of their last seven matches in England's top flight have finished level.
The Red Devils were on the brink of losing to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season, with Jorginho netting an 87th-minute penalty for Graham Potter's side.
However, Casemiro netted a last-gasp equaliser for Man United, who have shared the points in their last three visits to Stamford Bridge in the league.
Chelsea have struggled for consistency at home this season, only picking up 22 points from their 14 league matches in front of their own fans, boasting a record of six wins, four draws and four defeats.
Man United, meanwhile, have the sixth-best away record in England's top flight in 2023-24, collecting 23 points from 15 matches courtesy of a record of seven wins, two draws and six defeats. body check tags ::
