  • Tormentor to teammate? Delap breaks silence on Chelsea transfer rumours

Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has responded to rumours linking him with a move to Chelsea after the Tractor Boys' famous 2-0 win over the Blues in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old stole the spotlight when Chelsea paid a visit to Portman Road on Monday evening, firing home a pinpoint penalty before setting up Omari Hutchinson to finish the job.

Delap has now recorded seven goals and two assists in 18 top-flight matches for Kieran McKenna's side, whose beating of Chelsea was their first Premier League home win of the campaign.

The former Manchester City striker is believed to be on the Blues' shortlist of possible striker signings for 2025, having been identified by the sporting team as a player with 'exceptional transfer metrics'.

Third time lucky? Barcelona receive quick response to Olmo registration attempt

Barcelona have seen a third attempt to register Dani Olmo rejected by La Liga, increasing their risk of losing the Spaniard for nothing next month.

The Blaugrana failed for a second time to register Olmo with the league turned down a couple of days ago, as the cash-strapped club did not meet the necessary financial demands.

Barca managed to sign Olmo up for the first half of the season by using the salary space opened up by a long-term injury to Andreas Christensen, but that is no longer a viable solution to the club going over their spending cap.

Instead, Barcelona have brokered a €100m (£82.8m) deal to sell a portion of their Camp Nou VIP boxes to a Middle Eastern fund, and they released a statement on Tuesday evening confirming that they had applied to the governing body for another license to register Olmo and Pau Victor.

Happy New Year Reds! Salah on brink of Liverpool renewal as last 'obstacle' revealed

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has reportedly reached an agreement in principle over a new contract with the Reds, but there is still one more hoop to jump through before a renewal can be sealed.

From Wednesday onwards, the Egypt international will be free to enter into discussions with foreign teams over a pre-contract agreement, as is standard with a player in the last six months of their deal.

After providing another goal and assist in Liverpool's 5-0 crushing of West Ham United over the weekend, Salah admitted that he and the club were still some way off striking an accord over a renewal.

As Salah continues to run down the last few months of his existing deal, clubs in the Saudi Pro League are believed to be attentive to the situation after Al-Ittihad's failed £150m approach in 2023.

Fulham 'one of three PL teams' interested in Fagioli

Fulham are reportedly one of three Premier League clubs that made contact over a potential move for Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli.

Marco Silva can currently call upon a number of midfield options, including Sander Berge, Sasa Lukic, Tom Cairney, Andreas Pereira and Josh King.

However, the Cottagers seem to be keen to add further quality to their engine room as they look to maintain their European push in the second half of the season.

Having, picked up 29 points from 19 matches, Fulham are currently sitting in eighth place and three points adrift of the European qualification spots at the halfway point of the campaign.

'Particular intent' - Liverpool to receive De Jong boost from shock Barca move?

Barcelona have reportedly earmarked Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey - due to become a free agent next summer - as a possible replacement for Frenkie de Jong.

The Gunners are said to be at 'serious risk' of losing Ghana international Partey, who will be in the last six months of his contract by the time New Year's Day rolls around.

Partey will therefore be free to start negotiating pre-contract deals with foreign clubs from January onwards, and there is not believed to have been a breakthrough in contract talks with his camp.

As the former Atletico Madrid man will also be turning 32 in 2025, there is a strong chance that Arsenal could part ways with the midfielder, even if they were to take a huge hit on the £41.4m they paid for him in 2020.

The Howe effect: Man United veteran 'agrees to leave' after Newcastle horror show

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has reportedly agreed to leave the club in the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old was expected to be sold at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, but as no suitable offers were tabled, he remained at Old Trafford for the 2024-25 campaign.

Casemiro has featured regularly for the Red Devils again this term, netting three goals in 22 appearances, starting 10 Premier League games and three in the Europa League.

However, the consensus is that the former Real Madrid man has experienced a sharp physical decline, and he was lambasted for his display in Monday's 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle United.

Imminent arrival: Bournemouth on verge of signing 'rising MLS talent'

Bournemouth have reportedly reached an agreement to sign highly-rated youngster Matai Akinmboni from DC United.

The Cherries are currently in the hunt for European qualification after winning eight, drawing six and losing five of their 19 league matches.

As a result of that result, Bournemouth are sitting in seventh place in the Premier League table, with two points separating them from the European qualification spots.

Bournemouth now appear to be looking to add further depth to Andoni Iraola's squad to help maintain their European push in the second half of the season.

'Killed off' - Liverpool issue 'emphatic' response to Real Madrid's first move

Liverpool have reportedly turned down an opening approach from Real Madrid for defender Trent Alexander-Arnold, thereby 'killing off' any hopes of a mid-season deal.

From Wednesday onwards, the 26-year-old will be eligible to enter pre-contract talks with foreign clubs when he enters the final six months of his contract, as will Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

There is seemingly the most uncertainty about Alexander-Arnold's situation, as the vice-captain is in the prime of his career, although claims that he has already given Real Madrid his word are said to be premature.

Alexander-Arnold appeared to suggest that such stories were wide of the mark when celebrating his goal in the 5-0 win over West Ham United at the weekend, but Los Blancos' interest is an open secret.

Amorim's January battle with Juve for Barcelona star and Champions League winner

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen but will face a battle to capture him ahead of Juventus.

Ruben Amorim's United were beaten 2-0 by Newcastle United on December 30, succumbing to their fourth consecutive defeat in the Premier League.

While the Portuguese boss's arrival at Old Trafford was met positively by fans, the club are now 14th in the table with just 22 points after 19 games.

The club have not kept a clean sheet in their last eight fixtures, and the team's form is so dire that relegation from the top flight has been mooted as a distinct possibility.

Van Dijk to wave goodbye? Update as clubs circle around Reds' free agents

Inter Milan's interest in Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has reportedly cooled, and the Italian champions will not sign the defender for free at the the end of the season.

The Reds put in a statement performance when they beat West Ham United 5-0 on Sunday in the Premier League, extending their lead at the top of the table to eight points.

Arne Slot's side also picked up their seventh clean sheet in 18 matches, the joint most in the top flight alongside Nottingham Forest.

However, Mohamed Salah commented after the match that an agreement to extend his contract was far from being reached, while there has been constant speculation that Trent Alexander-Arnold will join Real Madrid in the summer, somewhat deflating the good mood amongst fans.

Liverpool forward set to leave? Why Reds fans could be seeing the last of winger

Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa is rumoured to be unhappy on Merseyside and could seek an exit back to Italy due to being homesick.

The Reds have been prolific in front of goal this season having scored 45 goals in the Premier League this term, with Mohamed Salah scoring 17 times and providing 13 assists in 18 league games.

His remarkable season has fired Arne Slot's side to the top of the table, but the Egyptian's record-breaking campaign has perhaps overshadowed the good form of the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo.

The pair have found the back of the net 12 and 11 times respectively in all competitions, and they seem to have finally settled at Anfield after struggling for consistency under previous boss Jurgen Klopp.

Amorim makes worrying admission over Man United's transfer plans

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has admitted that the club are not currently in a position to make January signings.

United have experienced their worst month in 94 years after they suffered their sixth competitive defeat in December in Monday's home meeting with Newcastle United.

Alexander Isak and Joelinton scored first-half goals to condemn Man United to a third consecutive Premier League defeat without scoring.

Having mustered just 22 points from 19 matches, the Red Devils will head into the new year in 14th place in the Premier League table.

Arsenal-linked Isak willing to stay at Newcastle on one condition?

Arsenal transfer target Alexander Isak is reportedly prepared to stay at Newcastle United if the club secure Champions League football for next season.

Isak has been in fine form for Eddie Howe's side this season, racking up 12 goals in 17 top-flight appearances to leave him in joint third place in the Premier League scoring charts.

The Sweden international has scored in each of Newcastle's last six Premier League games, including a hat-trick in a 4-0 over Ipswich Town earlier this month.

Isak also scored the opener in Monday's 2-0 away win over Manchester United, helping the Magpies move up to fifth spot and to within three points of the top four.

Two Italian giants 'monitoring Wood contract talks' following prolific Forest form

Nottingham Forest forward Chris Wood has allegedly emerged as a potential transfer target for two Italian clubs.

When departing Newcastle United in January 2023, Wood was fighting for his career in the Premier League having failed to impress at St James' Park.

However, the 33-year-old is now viewed as one of the best frontmen in the division, scoring 25 times in 50 top-flight appearances since the start of 2023-24.

The form of the New Zealand international has contributed to Nuno Espirito Santo's side sitting in second position in the Premier League table.

Chelsea 'targeting two Premier League strikers' as Maresca looks to bolster options

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing one of two young Premier League strikers at some point during 2025.

The Blues have reached the turn of the year with the third best attacking record in England's top flight with 38 goals being scored in 19 matches.

However, just one of those strikes have been netted in the last three games, Enzo Maresca's side going down by a 2-0 scoreline at Ipswich Town on Monday night.

As many as 21 of the 38 goals have come from Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson. Maresca can be satisfied with the efforts of the latter who has nine goals and three assists from 18 Premier League appearances to his name.

Ex-Arsenal chief could hold the key as Athletic 'identify Williams replacement'

Arsenal and Barcelona have apparently been handed a fillip in their pursuit of Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams, whom the Basque outfit have identified an ideal replacement for.

The 22-year-old was being lined up for a marquee move to Camp Nou or the Premier League after a stellar 2023-24 campaign, in which he shone during Spain's run to Euro 2024 glory with the first goal against England in the final.

However, no suitable offers were forthcoming for Williams, who has struggled to hit the same heights he managed last season in the current term, only contributing two goals and five assists in 23 games.

Nevertheless, the winger is still understood to be on the radar of several European giants, most notably Arsenal and Barcelona, while Manchester City, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have also been credited with an interest.

Marching to Spurs? Man City's Grealish stance 'revealed' amid Tottenham interest

Tottenham Hotspur have 'little chance' of prising Jack Grealish away from Manchester City during the January transfer window, according to a report.

Three-and-a-half years after his £100m arrival from Aston Villa, the 29-year-old is still struggling to justify his nine-figure price tag, only registering two assists and no goals in 14 games this season.

Grealish was only an unused substitute in Sunday's 2-0 win over Leicester City after recovering from a knock, and he has failed to directly contribute to a goal in his last eight top-flight appearances.

The England international still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his contract with the Premier League champions, but his continued troubles have led to increased speculation surrounding a potential exit.

January arrivals on the way? Where Slot and Liverpool could look to strengthen

Liverpool have almost certainly looked at central midfielders that could strengthen their chances of winning the Premier League title ahead of the January transfer window, according to Reds expert David Lynch.

Arne Slot's side sit atop the Premier League table, eight points ahead of second-placed Nottingham Forest, nine points in front of third-placed Arsenal and 10 points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea.

Their 5-0 win against West Ham United on Sunday was another reminder to the rest of the division that the Merseysiders are undoubtedly the team to beat.

However, Joe Gomez was withdrawn before the half-time interval against the Hammers as a result of an apparent hamstring injury, meaning that Liverpool's only available options at centre-back are Jarell Quansah and Virgil van Dijk.
