"Can you imagine?" - Should Arsenal bury Costa hatchet to strike free agent deal?
Arsenal should not give any thought to signing an "out of shape" free agent to solve their attacking shortage, Gunners expert Charles Watts has told Sports Mole.
Mikel Arteta's men came up trumps in their first game back from Dubai on Saturday afternoon, sinking Leicester City 2-0 in the Premier League thanks to a late double from emergency number nine Mikel Merino.
Before the Spaniard's heroic intervention, however, Arsenal's lack of an attacking focal point stuck out like a sore thumb following the news that Kai Havertz has joined Gabriel Jesus in the season-ending injuries club.
Arteta has not ruled out the possibility of Arsenal sign a free agent, options of which include Wissam Ben Yedder, Ryan Kent and ex-Chelsea man Diego Costa, who was the Gunners' public enemy number one during his time at Stamford Bridge.

A pretty profit? Liverpool 'name asking price' for South American attacker
Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz has reportedly 'caught the attention' of Italian giants Juventus amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Anfield.
The 28-year-old hit the ground running under Arne Slot following the Dutchman's arrival at Anfield last summer and has now established himself as Liverpool's first-choice centre-forward.
However, Diaz's contributions have since dropped off dramatically, and he has now gone six Premier League games without a goal or assist following Wednesday's 2-2 Merseyside derby draw with Everton.
Twelve goals and three assists from 34 matches is still not a terrible return for the Colombia international, but his contract situation is one that will need addressing soon.

'Alluring prospect' - Liverpool to pay 'whatever it takes' for teenage star?
Liverpool are allegedly prepared to spend 'whatever it takes' to win the race for Paris Saint-Germain teenager Warren Zaire-Emery in the summer transfer window.
The Reds have seen Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch form a highly effective midfield partnership this season; the former was on target in Wednesday's 2-2 Merseyside derby draw with Everton.
However, Arne Slot is lacking genuine depth after Mac Allister and Gravenberch, as the experienced Wataru Endo is out of favour, while Tyler Morton is out of contention with a serious shoulder injury.
The Dutchman does have James McConnell and Curtis Jones in his ranks too, but the former is still only 20 years old, while Jones has often been deployed in a more advanced role during the current season.

Barca, Arsenal, Liverpool: Which club is Isak 'very interested' in joining?
Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak is reportedly 'very interested' in joining Liverpool during this summer's transfer window.
The 25-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Magpies during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring 19 goals and registering five assists in 28 appearances in all competitions, including 17 goals and five assists in the Premier League.
Isak has a contract with Newcastle until June 2028, but there is currently a host of speculation surrounding his future, with Barcelona and Arsenal said to be among the clubs keen on bringing him in during the summer market.
There have also been suggestions of interest from Liverpool, as the Reds are likely to move Darwin Nunez on at the end of the campaign, and the Uruguay international could potentially fetch a large fee from Saudi Arabia.

"No long-term plans" - Could Man United attacker still have a future at Old Trafford?
Manchester United attacker Antony's agent has insisted that the Brazilian's career at Old Trafford is not necessarily over.
The 24-year-old joined Real Betis on loan in the latter stages of the January transfer window, and he has made a strong start to his time with the Seville outfit, scoring twice in three appearances.
Antony has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2027, though, and there was no buy option included in his loan agreement with Real Betis.
The La Liga outfit have expressed a desire to explore a permanent move for the Brazil international at the end of the campaign, but Antony's agent Junior Pedroso has said that his client's long-term future could still be at Old Trafford.

The new Sol Campbell? Arsenal's 'enquiry' for ex-Tottenham teenager revealed
Arsenal are reportedly running the rule over Stoke City sensation Jaden Dixon after making an approach to sign the fledgling defender on transfer deadline day.
The January window slammed shut without the Gunners bringing in any new players, a risk that has backfired horribly following injuries to Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz, the latter of whom is out for the season.
Arsenal will be especially active in the attacking department this summer after keeping their chequebook closed over the winter, but even though Mikel Arteta has fewer concerns at the back, reinforcements could still be sought.
The Gunners may have to fend off intense competition from Real Madrid to keep hold of William Saliba, while Jakub Kiwior, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney - whose summer return to Celtic has been confirmed - could all be on the way out.

Could Liverpool replace 'tempted' defender with 'elite level' Spurs star?
Liverpool are allegedly plotting a shock swoop for Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven, whom they want to sign regardless of Virgil van Dijk's future.
The Reds still stand to lose captain Van Dijk when his contract expires at the end of the season, although it was recently claimed that the 33-year-old's renewal at Anfield was 'as good as done'.
Van Dijk has repeatedly remained coy on discussions behind closed doors when questioned by the media, but it is understood that the Dutchman is longing for another couple of years on Merseyside.
However, while Van Dijk looks set to continue with the Premier League leaders, there could still be a major defensive upheaval, as Ibrahima Konate is said to be tempted by a move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to ESPN.

"Maybe half true" - Which Real Madrid star rejected Arsenal move at 16?
Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde has confirmed that he turned down the chance to sign for Arsenal at the age of 16, as he was never interested in moving to England.
The Uruguay international has been an integral player for Los Blancos for a number of years now and captained the 15-time European champions to a thrilling 3-2 win over Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League playoff in midweek.
Valverde has now struck 29 goals of his own while providing 27 assists in 297 appearances for Real Madrid across all competitions, including eight strikes and four helpers from 38 matches in the current campaign.
The 26-year-old previously came through the youth setup at Uruguayan outfit Penarol before joining Real Madrid's Castilla ranks for just £4.2m in 2016, although he was courted by a European giant just before that.

Spanish giants 'plotting ambitious move' for Chelsea attacker
Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson may reportedly be the subject of interest from Atletico Madrid during the summer transfer window.
The Blues are currently struggling in the absence of their first-choice striker, who missed Friday's 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion with a hamstring injury.
Head coach Enzo Maresca has since suggested that Chelsea have been left in no doubt regarding the importance of having the Senegal international in their attack.
That is despite the 23-year-old not getting on the scoresheet for Chelsea since December 15, his tally for the season still reading nine goals and five assists from his 23 Premier League appearances.

Chelsea 'make contact' over '£83m move' for Barcelona star
Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado during this summer's transfer window.
The 21-year-old has made the breakthrough into the Barcelona first team this season, making 30 appearances in all competitions, providing six assists in the process, and he has proven to be a vital player for head coach Hansi Flick.
Casado signed a new contract last summer, extending his stay at the club until June 2028, but there is thought to be serious Premier League interest in the Spain international, with a number of English teams said to be interested.
According to Cadena SER, Chelsea were in contact with Casado's camp last summer to register their interest and have again been in touch in recent weeks to discuss his situation.

Barca-linked Williams 'reveals transfer preference' after Arsenal, Liverpool 'contact'
Arsenal and Liverpool have reportedly 'made contact' with Nico Williams's camp to discuss a summer move, but the Athletic Bilbao forward still views Barcelona as his first-choice destination in terms of a new club.
Barcelona activated the £48m release clause in Williams's Athletic contract last summer, but the Spain international ultimately turned down the chance to make the move to Hansi Flick's side.
Williams was in outstanding form for Athletic during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring eight goals and registering 19 assists in 37 appearances, before helping Spain to win Euro 2024 with two goals and one assist at the finals.
The 22-year-old only has four goals and five assists in 30 appearances for the Lions this term, but he remains one of the most in-demand forwards in European football due to the presence of a relatively low release clause.
