Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld's price tag has reportedly gone through the roof after the release clause in his contract expired.
The Belgian centre-back had been linked with numerous teams early in the summer transfer window, including Tottenham's Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Alderweireld was available for a cut-price fee of £25m, but as of today Tottenham are no longer obliged to sell him on the cheap.
According to The Sun, Spurs will now ask any potential buyers for closer to the £40m mark should they reignite their interest.
Meanwhile, the same report indicates that Man United's pursuit of Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has accelerated as a result of Alderweireld no longer being available on the cheap.
