Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has hit out at "obsessed" Jamie Carragher amid the uncertainty surrounding his future at Anfield.
Salah is one of three Liverpool stars who are out of contract at the end of the season, along with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Egypt international will become a free agent when his contract expires in the summer if he fails to agree a new deal with the Merseyside club.
Amid the uncertainty, Salah took to social media on Monday to post a cryptic post which appeared to have relevance to his current contract situation.
The 32-year-old shared an image of him and Alexander-Arnold standing over a free kick, with Van Dijk watching on in the background.
Carragher tells Salah to follow Van Dijk's lead
Carragher previously criticised the forward for going public about his contract situation, and on Monday he claimed that Salah and Alexander-Arnold should follow the example set by Van Dijk.
"Ooh, I don't know," Carragher said on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football when asked about what he made of Salah's social media post.
"You know what I would say. I would say Virgil van Dijk has come out of this whole sort of situation this season as captain of the club in a higher esteem for me.
"The way he was yesterday as well and he hasn't got involved in too much around this all. It's obviously a really important time for all three players. But I think rather than speak about Alexander-Arnold or Salah I'd probably like to pay tribute to van Dijk.
"I think he's come across as a real statesman. I think the way he's handled it. He's been asked questions and he's not been away, he's here to win league and he's doing his utmost for Liverpool. And fingers crossed he signs. But I think the other two could maybe look at Van Dijk and take a leaf out of his book."
Salah responds to "obsessed" Carragher
Salah replied to a video circulating of Carragher's latest comments, labelling the Liverpool legend as "obsessed" in a post on X.
The Egyptian wrote: "I'm starting to think you're obsessed with me," with the winking face emoji.
Carragher appeared to take Salah's response in good spirits, taking to his own social media account to reply to Salah's post.
"I've always been obsessed with you @MoSalah. Hopefully, that obsession will continue next season," Carragher wrote before adding a fingers crossed and winking face emoji.
Away from the ongoing contract saga, Salah and his Liverpool teammates are currently preparing for Wednesday's EFL Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur.
