Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has reportedly made it clear that he wants the club to hold talks with Amad Diallo over a new contract.

Amorim celebrated his first Premier League victory in Sunday's home clash against Everton, with Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford netting braces at Old Trafford.

Diallo also played a key role in the commanding 4-0 victory, providing two assists to earn significant praise from his new manager.

Speaking after the game, Amorim claimed that Diallo is "really big in talent" but insisted that he still has room for improvement.

Diallo has evidently impressed his new boss, having started in both of Amorim's first two Premier League games alongside a substitute appearance in Thursday's Europa League win over Bodo/Glimt.

Amorim wants new Amorim contract

The 22-year-old has made a total of 19 competitive appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

While he is showing plenty of promise on the pitch, there is uncertainty about whether he will still be at Old Trafford for the 2025-26 campaign.

Diallo is out of contract at the end of the season, although Man United hold the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

However, the Red Devils must inform the attacker before the new year whether they intend to activate the one-year option in his contract.

According to The Telegraph, Amorim is keen to extend Diallo's deal and is planning to hold talks over the player's future.

The report claims that Diallo's contraction situation is likely to be discussed in the 'next weeks' as the new year fast approaches.

Amorim feels Diallo 'suits his system'

Diallo will be able to talk to overseas clubs about a pre-contract agreement from January if Man United decide against triggering his one-year option.

However, Amorim is seemingly keen to retain Diallo's services because he believes that he is a player that 'can fit into his system'.

Amorim has implemented a 3-4-3 formation in his first three matches at Old Trafford after he enjoyed significant success with that system during his time in the Sporting Lisbon dugout.

Diallo has operated on the right side of a four in Man United's first two Premier League matches under Amorim, with three assists in those games suggesting that he is comfortable playing in the new formation. body check tags ::
