Ander Herrera is reportedly keen to stay on at Manchester United beyond the end of the season, despite interest from Barcelona.
The Spanish midfielder is due to be out of contract at Old Trafford next summer and is therefore free to discuss a free transfer to foreign clubs from January.
Barcelona are among the sides weighing up a move for Herrera, but ESPN suggests that United are looking to thrash out fresh terms with the ex-Athletic Bilbao ace.
Herrera, who has made just two appearances so far this season, is said to be prepared to snub other offers if the Red Devils give him the contract that he is after.
Barcelona are now managed by the 29-year-old's former Athletic boss Ernesto Valverde.
