Barcelona defender Dani Alves is not believed to have signed a pre-contract agreement with Manchester United.

Francois Gallardo, the Brazilian's agent, said on Friday that the Red Devils had secured a preliminary agreement with Alves for him to move to Old Trafford when his contract expires next summer.

However, renowned Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague has refuted the speculation.

Alves has previously expressed an interest in plying his trade in England and Liverpool are also thought to be suitors.
