Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo "keeps dreaming" of going back to Manchester United.
The Real Madrid forward swapped Old Trafford for the Bernabeu in 2009 for a world-record fee of £80m, and in recent years has been linked with the Red Devils as well as Paris Saint-Germain.
Balague told Sky Sports News: "This could be his last year. It is quite clear there is a strategy in place, both by Real and from Ronaldo, to push the situation to a limit next summer.
"He still has two years left on his contract, he will have to either renew his contract, or Real will have to accept an offer for him from PSG, or whoever.
"He keeps dreaming of going to United, but it does not make sense as United are in a different place and he would be fighting with his own shadow. But the financial situation is there for United to get him."
Ronaldo spent six seasons with Man Utd, scoring 118 goals in 292 appearances and helping them win three Premier League titles and the 2007-08 Champions League.
