Bayern Munich have insisted that Robert Lewandowski's situation at Allianz Arena is unchanged despite the ongoing speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.

The 33-year-old has made it clear that he wants to leave Bayern during this summer's transfer window, and he is believed to be determined to secure a switch to Camp Nou.

The Poland international still has more than 12 months left to run on his contract at Allianz Arena, though, and the German giants are planning to keep hold of him.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has said that the club are planning for Lewandowski to return to training with the club on July 12 and stay until at least next summer.

"Our position is clear: Robert has a contract until the summer of 2023. New bid from Barcelona? I'm not thinking about that. I'm expecting to see Robert in training at Sabener Straße on July 12," Salihamidzic told Bild.

Meanwhile, Bayern director Oliver Kahn has also insisted that "not much has changed", with the Bundesliga champions planning to have the striker in their team next term.

"As far as Lewandowski is concerned, not much has changed. He's still under contract until 2023. Here at Bayern we are now looking forward to the first day of training with Robert," said Kahn.

The striker scored 50 goals and registered seven assists in 46 appearances in all competitions at club level during the 2021-22 campaign, but he wants to leave this summer in search of pastures new.

"My era at Bayern is over. I don't see any possibility to continue playing for this club anymore. Bayern's a serious club and I believe they won't keep me, I don't want to play there anymore. A transfer is the best solution. I hope they don't stop me," Lewandowski recently told reporters.

Barcelona are believed to have already failed with an offer of €32m (£27.5m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons for the centre-forward, with Bayern not interested in a sale at this stage.

However, the German champions have now confirmed the arrival of Sadio Mane from Liverpool, and behind the scenes, the club are thought to have a €50m (£43m) asking price in mind.

Lewandowski has scored 344 goals and registered 72 assists in 374 appearances for the Bundesliga champions in all competitions since arriving from Borussia Dortmund.

Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester United have also been credited with an interest in the striker during this summer's transfer window.

However, Barcelona are thought to be the only genuine contenders for his signature at this stage, with the Catalan outfit determined to bring him to Camp Nou before the transfer window closes. body check tags ::
