Bayern Munich are reportedly prepared to bid £70m for Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane after their first offer for the striker was quickly rejected by the North Londoners.
The 29-year-old is entering the final year of his current contract in the capital and has been linked with a move away from Spurs as he looks to add trophies to his record-breaking career.
Despite scoring 30 Premier League goals last term - with only Manchester City's Erling Haaland netting more - the Englishman was unable to guide his side to a place in Europe as Spurs ended up finishing in eighth.
Ange Postecoglou has arrived in North London following the conclusion of a difficult 2022-23 campaign for the Lilywhites, however it remains to be seen whether the Australian will be able to call on the services of the club's all-time top goalscorer next term.
According to the Daily Mail, Bayern Munich are ready to table an improved offer of £70m for Kane as they attempt to end the forward's 11-year first-team career at Tottenham.
It is understood that the Bundesliga champions have already proposed a £56m deal to Spurs for the player, however that bid was swiftly turned down by Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy.
Although there are keen admirers of Kane in England and across Europe, Spurs are said to be confident of keeping the striker in North London as Postecoglou looks to build a team capable of competing for a top-four place.
The former Celtic boss has moved early in the transfer market to bring in talent which could support the likes of Kane and Son Heung-min in attack, recruiting James Maddison from Championship club Leicester City for £40m.
It is believed that Tottenham are prepared to hand Kane a lucrative new contract in order to commit his long-term future to the club, however the player himself is reportedly not willing to sign fresh terms whilst the transfer window is open.
As well as the Bundesliga giants, Manchester United have also made the signing of Kane a priority this summer, however the Red Devils are said to be focusing on alternative targets as Spurs look unlikely to sell their star man to a Premier League rival.
Erik ten Hag's men are believed to have agreed personal terms with Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford, with the former Ajax boss looking to fill the hole left by Wout Weghorst's return to parent club Burnley.
Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel has experience of coming up against Kane during his time in the Chelsea hotseat, and the German is said to have held discussions with the Englishman ahead of a possible switch to Munich.
The Bavarians made it 11 Bundesliga titles in succession after pipping Borussia Dortmund to first place on the final day of the 2022-23 term, although Tuchel's men struggled on the continental stage.
Eventual winners Manchester City made relatively easy work of Bayern in their Champions League quarter-final meeting, and they are yet to truly replace Robert Lewandowski after the Pole left for Barcelona last summer.
