Manchester United have reportedly agreed personal terms with Atalanta BC striker Rasmus Hojlund ahead of a potential move from Serie A to Old Trafford this summer.
The 20-year-old has attracted interest from around Europe after a promising first campaign in Italy since making the switch from Austrian outfit Sturm Graz in August 2022.
Scoring nine goals and assisting on two occasions in the Italian top flight, Hojlund was part of an Atalanta side which finished fifth in Serie A, securing Europa League football for Gian Piero Gasperini's men.
The forward has also caught the eye on the international stage since making his Denmark debut in September of last year, netting six times in as many matches, including a strike away at Slovenia in the Red and Whites' recent European Championship qualifier.
According to Football Transfers, Hojlund is close to linking up with compatriot Christian Eriksen in the Premier League, with the striker and Manchester United agreeing personal terms.
Although the Red Devils and the player have shaken hands on the details of his contract, it is understood that Erik ten Hag's men are still in discussions with Atalanta over a transfer fee.
It is believed that United were rejected earlier this month with a £30m bid for the 20-year-old, and the Old Trafford were said to be preparing an improved offer of £40m.
The report claims that the Nerazzurri have set a £60m asking price for Hojlund this summer, meaning Ten Hag's side will need to considerably increase their bid in order to secure the Dane's services.
Man United have focused their attention on the signing of the former Copenhagen man in recent weeks, with a potential move for Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane having many complexities.
Despite this, it is understood that the Red Devils have not given up on bringing England's all-time top goalscorer to Old Trafford, and are reportedly exploring the possibility of using Jadon Sancho as part of an agreement with Spurs.
With the departure of David De Gea being confirmed by United earlier this month, the club are set for a summer of serious change as Ten Hag builds a squad capable of competing in the Champions League next term.
Inter Milan's Andre Onana is said to be close to replacing last season's Premier League Golden Glove winner, with the Cameroonian expected to be announced as a United player at some point next week.
There is also set to be a number of outgoings in Manchester ahead of the 2023-24 term, as Ten Hag is said to be looking to offload Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Fred.
Man United begin their pre-season schedule with a game against fierce rivals Leeds United on Wednesday, before friendlies with the likes of Arsenal, Lyon and Wrexham conclude a busy July period. body check tags ::
