Cristiano Ronaldo agent 'hold talks with Bayern Munich'

Jorge Mendes - the agent of Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo - reportedly holds discussions with Bayern Munich regarding a January transfer.

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly held discussions regarding a future move to Bayern Munich.

Since the start of July, the Portuguese superstar has constantly been linked with a transfer away from Old Trafford due to a lack of Champions League football.

Heading into last weekend, that already remained a strong possibility for the turn of the year, but developments since Sunday evening have realistically ended Ronaldo's second stint at the Theatre of Dreams.'

Snippets of an interview with Piers Morgan showed the 37-year-old claiming that United had 'betrayed him' and saying that he did not respect current head coach Erik ten Hag.

On Monday evening, 24 hours on from the initial revelations, Ronaldo is shown taking aim at The Glazer Family, the club's owners, and more is expected to come in the following days.

In the final week before the World Cup, Ronaldo was absent from the squads which faced Aston Villa in the EFL Cup and Fulham in the Premier League due to illness.

However, according to the Daily Mail, the veteran attacker was still able to meet with Bayern officials last week, alongside his agent Jorge Mendes.

The report claims that representatives of the Bundesliga giants flew to England to discuss a potential January deal for Ronaldo.

That alleged development comes after Bayern insisted over the summer that Ronaldo was not on their radar, despite the departure of Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.

Since then, Sadio Mane has settled into life at the Allianz Arena with nine goals in Germany's top flight and the Champions League, but the real success story has been that of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

The Cameroon international has scored 10 times since October 16, the former Stoke City frontman now regarded as first choice down the centre of Julian Nagelsmann's attack.

Any successful pursuit of Ronaldo would likely lead to Choupo-Moting dropping back to the substitutes' bench at a time when he has little over six months remaining on his contract.

On Monday, it was reported that Chelsea's new owners may consider a fresh approach for Ronaldo after Thomas Tuchel allegedly rejected the idea in the weeks before his dismissal. body check tags ::
