Sports Mole previews Monday's La Liga clash between Celta Vigo and Getafe, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Getafe will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten run of form in La Liga to five matches when they continue their campaign with a clash against Celta Vigo at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos on Monday night.

The visitors have picked up 10 points from their opening 11 matches of the campaign to sit down in 16th spot in the La Liga table, while Celta are 11th, boasting 13 points from their first 11 games of 2024-25.

Match preview

Celta boast a record of four wins, one draw and six defeats from their 11 matches this season to collect 13 points, which has left them in 11th spot in the table, and they have been one of the best watches in Spain's top flight in 2024-25.

Indeed, the Vigo outfit have found the back of the net on 17 occasions, with only Villarreal (20), Real Madrid (21) and Barcelona (37) managing more, while they have conceded 20, which is the second-worst defensive record in the division.

Claudio Giraldez's side have lost their last two in Spain's top flight to Real Madrid and Leganes, but they will enter this match off the back of a huge win, beating UD San Pedro 5-1 in the first round of the Copa del Rey on October 30.

Celta finished 13th in Spain's top flight last term and look capable of improving on that this term, although they will surely need to tighten up defensively in order to finish in the top half of the division.

The Sky Blues have not actually beaten Getafe in La Liga since October 2021, with the capital team triumphing in three of their last five matches, including a 3-2 success when they last locked horns in February of this year.

Getafe have only actually won once in La Liga this season, which proved to be a 2-0 success over Alaves on September 28, and they are now unbeaten in their last four matches, drawing with Osasuna, Villarreal and Valencia since their first victory of the campaign.

The capital outfit's only defeat in their last six league games was away to Barcelona, but they are down in 16th spot in the table, boasting a record of one win, seven draws and three defeats from their 11 matches.

While Celta have both scored and conceded penalty this season, that is not the case with Getafe, as the Deep Blue Ones have only managed eight goals, which is the joint-worst attacking record in the division, but they have conceded just nine, with only Atletico Madrid (seven) letting in fewer at this stage of the campaign.

Jose Bordalas's side have not managed to triumph on the road in La Liga since the end of April, but they did pick up a welcome point against Villarreal in their last fixture on their travels.

There will once again be eyes on Christantus Uche in this match, with the 21-year-old believed to have attracted the attention of a number of clubs, including Chelsea, due to his performances this season.

Team News

Celta will be missing a number of players through injury on Monday, with Carlos Dominguez, Tadeo Allende, Sergio Carreira, Joseph Aidoo, Jailson and Luca de la Torre unavailable for selection.

Tasos Douvikas scored twice in Celta's 5-1 win over UD San Pedro in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, and the forward could now feature in a La Liga XI on Monday night.

There will be a number of changes from the side that started in the cup last time out, though, with Ilaix Moriba, Marcos Alonso and Oscar Mingueza among those expected to return to the side.

As for Getafe, Borja Mayoral is again a doubt due to a muscular problem, but the visitors are otherwise in excellent shape in terms of their squad, and it would not be a surprise to see an unchanged XI here.

However, there is expected to be a return to the side for Uche, with the Nigerian likely to feature alongside Bertug Yildirim in the final third of the field.

Alex Sola and Carles Perez should again operate in the wide positions for the visitors, while Mauro Arambarri, who was on the scoresheet against Valencia last time out, is set to continue in central midfield.

Celta Vigo possible starting lineup:
Guaita; Manquillo, Starfelt, Alonso; Mingueza, Sotelo, Moriba, Alvarez; Aspas, Iglesias, Douvikas

Getafe possible starting lineup:
Soria; Iglesias, Dakonam, Alderete, Rico; Perez, Arambarri, Milla, Sola; Uche, Yildirim

We say: Celta Vigo 1-1 Getafe

Getafe have been the draw specialists this season, sharing the points in seven of their 11 La Liga matches, and we are struggling to separate the two sides here, with the capital giants potentially sharing the points once again.
