Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly been offered to Premier League trio Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle United ahead of the January transfer window.

Th 37-year-old faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after being exiled from the first-team squad following his refusal to come on as a substitute in the win over Tottenham Hotspur last week.

Ronaldo was dropped from the matchday squad for Saturday's 1-1 draw away at Chelsea and was told to train with the Under-21s over the weekend.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has since reported back to first-team training with Erik ten Hag's side ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with Sheriff Tiraspol.

Nevertheless, speculation over Ronaldo's future persists as the January transfer window edges closer, and The Sun reports that the forward has been offered to Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle.

The Blues were strongly linked with a summer move for Ronaldo and they are allegedly considering a swoop for the Portugal international in the winter window.

However, The Sun indicates to a source which claims that Ronaldo is no longer on Chelsea's radar, while both Arsenal and Newcastle are concerned about the "wider impact" the forward could have for the clubs.

Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe recently played down the prospect of luring Ronaldo to St James' Park, telling reporters via 90min, "We're trying to provide long-term growth, we've got a longer-term vision.

"At the moment, we have quite an ageing squad, so we need to invest more in young players. That's probably a big part of our progression, we need to get the average age down.

"So, it might not be a signing that we would necessarily look to make, but that's not under-estimating the quality of the player."

It is thought that Ronaldo would be open to a return to Serie A, where he spent three years during his time at Juventus.

Serie A leaders Napoli have been credited with an interest in Ronaldo, but there are question marks over whether they can afford to splash out in excess of £350,000 per week on the forward.

The likes of Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Sporting Lisbon were all linked with a potential move for Ronaldo over the summer, but they instead turned down the chance to sign him.

Ronaldo has struggled to break into Ten Hag's starting lineup so far this season, beginning just six times in 12 appearances across all competitions and scoring only twice.

United's No.7 will see his current contract at Old Trafford expire next summer, but it is thought that the Red Devils have an option to extend his deal until June 2024. body check tags ::
