Manchester United have reportedly failed in a fresh attempt to sign Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.
Jose Mourinho had been keen to bring in the centre-back during his time at Old Trafford, only for Godin to opt to remain at the La Liga giants.
The 32-year-old has just six months remaining on his Atletico contract, and according to TuttoMercatoWeb, United have moved to offer Godin a deal worth £4.3m per season.
However, the report claims that the approach has been turned down, with Godin instead looking likely to link up with Inter Milan at the end of the current campaign.
Godin is still a key part of the Spanish side's backline with 18 outings coming in La Liga and the Champions League this season, but the player is said to be unhappy with only being offered the guarantee of a one-year extension.
