Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is reportedly in Germany undergoing his medical ahead of a proposed loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 26-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements by the Red Devils having failed to break into the first team since the arrival of manager Erik ten Hag in the summer of 2022.
Van de Beek started just two games for Man United across all tournaments last season before a serious knee injury curtailed his campaign in January.
The Dutch midfielder has since featured for just 21 minutes across two appearances in 2023-24, with both outings against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and EFL Cup.
Since joining Man United from Ajax for a reported £40m in 2020, Van de Beek has contributed with only two goals and two assists in 62 first-team appearances.
Van de Beek is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2025, but the midfielder recently admitted that he needs to leave Man United for the sake of his career.
The likes of Galatasaray, Newcastle United and Inter Milan have all previously been credited with an interest in Van de Beek, who allegedly offered himself to Barcelona earlier this month.
However, Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt have since stepped up their pursuit of the midfielder and recently made a breakthrough in negotiations with Man United.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Van de Beek has arrived in Germany to complete his medical tests ahead of a finalising a loan move to Frankfurt with an option to buy.
Romano states that Frankfurt would be required to pay Man United an initial €11m (£9.5m) plus €4m (£3.4m) in add-ons for Van de Beek if they agree to activate to purchase option in the summer.
Frankfurt are understood to have agreed to pay just 40% of Van de Beek's wages, though, with Man United prepared to cover the rest to ensure that the player secures his loan move to Germany in January.
Van de Beek may not be the only Man United player heading for the exit door in the New Year as Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho have all been tipped to leave Old Trafford.
Red Devils football director John Murtough was reportedly in Saudi Arabia earlier this month to discuss the possibility of offloading the quartet in January.
Casemiro is said to have received offers from Saudi Pro League clubs, while Al Ettifaq – managed by Steven Gerrard – are believed to be lining up an £8.6m offer for Martial in January.
Sancho, meanwhile, is widely expected to depart Man United following his well-documented fallout with Ten Hag, but Varane is believed to be keen to fight for his place at Old Trafford and is even hopeful of extending his contract.
