Manchester United have reportedly agreed to pay 60% of Donny van de Beek's wages to allow him to join Eintracht Frankfurt on loan at the start of the January transfer window.
The Netherlands international recently admitted that he needs to leave the Red Devils for the sake of his career, while the club's head coach Erik ten Hag has also said that a winter exit is likely.
Frankfurt are believed to be showing the strongest interest in the midfielder, but a recent report claimed that a deal was in jeopardy due to Van de Beek's wages, which are around £6m a year.
According to Bild, Man United have now made it clear that they are willing to pay 60% of the Dutchman's wages for the remainder of the season to allow him to move to Frankfurt.
The report claims that the Bundesliga outfit can afford to pay 40% of his wage packet, and a purchase clause is likely to be included in the deal, which could potentially be worth round £8.6m.
There have been suggestions of interest from Galatasaray, but it is unclear whether the Turkish outfit are planning to make a late move for him.
Real Sociedad also appear to have moved on despite being heavily linked with his services during the summer transfer window.
Van de Beek has only played twice for the Red Devils this season, with just one of those appearances coming in the Premier League, having dropped down the pecking order at the club.
The 26-year-old has recently been a regular in Man United's Premier League squad, though, due to the club's injury crisis, and he could again be in the squad against Liverpool on Sunday.
Van de Beek arrived at Old Trafford from Ajax in September 2020, penning a five-year contract with the club.
The midfielder has found it difficult to make his mark for the Red Devils, though, only managing two goals and two assists in 62 appearances in all competitions.
Discussions with Frankfurt are now said to be advancing to a stage where an agreement could be reached in the near future, allowing him to arrive at the German club at the start of January.
Man United are also expected to move Jadon Sancho on next month, with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund being linked with his services.
Ten Hag's side are said to be open to January offers for a number of other first-team players, meanwhile, including Anthony Martial, Casemiro and Raphael Varane. body check tags ::
