Everton are reportedly plotting to hijack Leeds United's proposed move for Manchester United attacker Daniel James.
With the arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho limiting his opportunities in the side, James is expected to complete a move away from Old Trafford in what remains of the summer window.
The Wales international was on the verge of signing for Leeds from Swansea City in 2019 before a deal collapsed at the last second, but the Whites were thought to be close to striking a permanent deal for him this time around.
However, Football Insider claims that Everton are hoping to hijack Leeds' bid for James before the summer transfer window closes for business at 11pm on Tuesday.
The report claims that Leeds had agreed a fee of around £25m to sign James from Man United, but Everton have now registered their interest after adding to their wide options with the signings of Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray.
James has started two of Man United's three Premier League games so far this season and boasts nine goals and nine assists from 74 appearances for the club in total. body check tags ::
