Manchester United have announced that defender Patrice Evra has extended his contract by a further year following speculation regarding his future.
The Frenchman was heavily linked with a move to Italy following widespread reports that United are keen on signing Southampton left-back Luke Shaw.
However, the Red Devils have announced on their official Twitter page that Evra has signed a one-year extension, to which he was entitled under a clause written into his current deal.
Evra, who joined United from Monaco in 2006, will be playing under Louis van Gaal, who was appointed as David Moyes's successor on Monday.
