Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes has allegedly met with his agent to discuss a potential move to Manchester United.
Fernandes has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent weeks, although it now appears that United are the only English contenders to sign the playmaker.
Reports have suggested that the North-West outfit are still to meet Sporting's valuation of the Portugal international, who contributed 20 goals and 13 assists from 33 league outings last season.
Nevertheless, according to the Manchester Evening News, Fernandes has still held discussions with his representative Miguel Pinho after returning for pre-season training.
No move appears to be imminent, though, at a time when United are still contemplating whether to sell Paul Pogba to either Real Madrid or Juventus.
Sporting are said to be resigned to selling their most prized asset before the end of the transfer window.
